VoIP phones
An internet-based VoIP phone system offers many advantages to organisations of all sizes. It reduces costs, is ideal for remote or hybrid working and, when part of a unified communications package, combines all your communication needs in one solution.
Reduce phone costs
Switching from a traditional PSTN or ISDN phone system to VoIP will immediately reduce your call costs. Some clients who switched to our 3CX VoIP phone system have seen an 80% reduction in their phone bill.
With a VoIP solution there is no expensive line rental to pay because the calls run through your existing internet connection, giving you another cost saving. You can reduce costs further by opting to use headsets and existing mobile phones, rather than investing in desk phones.
If you use Microsoft Teams then a move to VoIP could be even more cost effective. Adding Teams Phone to your subscription will give you access to VoIP calls, in addition to video calls, through the Teams interface.
Support flexible working patterns
One of the key benefits of VoIP phone systems is the flexibility to access your phone from anywhere. Your VoIP application can be set up on your desktop, laptop and phone, enabling you to make and receive calls from any device so long as it has an internet connection.
This allows your teams to transfer seamlessly from working in the office to working at home, and anywhere in between.
Benefit from unified communications
Our VoIP solutions are part of wider unified communications packages. This means that when you sign up for VoIP you actually get a range of functions all in one application, including:
- Voice calls
- Video calls
- Chat functions
The 3CX VoIP system also integrates with call centre software, Facebook Messenger and CRM systems. Plus it can provide a live chat function to add to your website.
Manage calls effectively
Moving to a VoIP phone system doesn’t mean you have to compromise on call management capabilities.
The features available with our VoIP solutions include:
- Voicemail
- Call transfer
- Queuing and auto attendants (menu systems)
- Call recording
- Customer authentication
- Outbound diallers

Your questions answered
Both options are available.
A VoIP hosted solution means that you don’t need any physical hardware to manage the phone system. Instead the PBX (the phone exchange which connects each call) is hosted in the cloud. The users in your business simply connect to the cloud via the internet.
An on-premises VoIP solution may be advantageous for larger organisations. This requires a PBX control unit to be installed within your premises. This option is more costly to set up and maintain, however it gives you additional scalability and security benefits.
Unfortunately, no, there is an additional subscription charge per user. However, this can still work out as a significant cost saving compared to running your phones through a separate service.
Yes, our VoIP solutions all have inbuilt security features to minimise the risk of any cyberattacks, including end-to-end encryption and continual monitoring to detect any malicious activity.
If security is a particular concern (for example if you have a large number of calls of a highly sensitive nature) then an on-premises VoIP system might be the best option for you.
Yes, in the vast majority of cases you’ll be able to transfer your company phone numbers through a process called “porting”. This includes 0800 numbers and other non-regional numbers.
Yes, you can install an app onto your mobile phone which enables you to make and receive calls using your business phone number. You can continue to use your mobile phone number as usual on the same phone.
Yes, with VoIP phones you have the option to use a desk phone handset or a headset when you’re at your desk.
