IT Services for Sevenoaks Town Council

The client

Sevenoaks Town Council is an ambitious local authority which takes pride in representing its local community. It oversees a wealth of services for the local population, including markets, community facilities and bus services.

Its work in governance, community leadership and council development have been recognised with the Quality Gold Award from the Local Council Award Scheme.

The challenge

In the early 2010s Sevenoaks Town Council’s relationship with their existing IT support company had run its course. They needed a new provider to introduce fresh ideas, strategic thinking and technical expertise.

How we helped

When we started working with Sevenoaks Town Council our first step was to review their entire IT infrastructure and support arrangements. We wanted to ensure that the services we provided were a good strategic fit in the short and long term.

Part of our infrastructure overhaul included implementing new servers and providing a Microsoft 365 subscription to replace their in-house email server and standalone Microsoft software.

Over the years we have also provided assistance for several Sevenoaks community projects. This has included networking services for the refurbishment of the Bat & Ball Community Centre, and the networking, leased line and wifi set up for the Sevenoaks Business Hub.

Most recently, we have provided them with support to keep their team working effectively from home during the covid pandemic. We helped them to introduce these new operating procedures swiftly and with minimal disruption.

Sevenoaks Town Council are currently working to achieve Cyber Essentials accreditation. To support this we have reviewed and, where needed, upgraded their systems to meet the stringent security requirements, and provided security training for their team.

The result

This proactive local authority now have the IT systems and support to match their ambitions. Their systems work reliably whether their team members are in the council offices or working remotely.

Through their Cyber Essentials accreditation they will achieve a government-certified security status and ensure that their community’s data and online services are fully protected.

Furthermore, Sevenoaks Town Council can now approach larger projects with the confidence that all technical requirements will be delivered smoothly and effectively.
